Formview fired event itemupdating which
However, although the Validator was set to Invisible, the underying validation still took place upon 'Update' button click.Unfortunately, error message from this Validator was suppressed ( I guess most likely because of its Invisble nature ). If you set the Button's Use Submit Behavior property to FALSE, it works! Why do the solutions seem to conflict in reasoning? my case is i use updatepanel, so i need to wrap everyting include the objectdatasource with in the update panel.Seems a little strange that the button type would have an impact such as this. I have used image buttons a lot in Grid Views and they work well there. In that case the framework can not locate these fields and the update (and insert) parameters are not filled automatically ...I just replaced asp:table with normal html table tags and everything started working...To complete the lessons in this chapter, you should be familiar with developing applications with Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 by using Microsoft Visual Basic or Microsoft Visual C#.In addition, you should be comfortable with all of the following: REAL WORLD: Mike Snell Not all applications require developers to write custom, abstracted data layers and reusable frameworks.Work around I am going to do: Programmatically fill in datasource's parameters and promatically invoke datasource's updating event. But I am so reluctant because with so many aspx I have written, I know ASP.
Actually, if you read more carefully you'll see that the behavior you desire is only defined for the Button class - not the Link Button class.
The last lesson presents the new Dynamic Data features of ASP.
NET that allow you to easily create websites for working with the create, read, update, and delete (CRUD) operations of an entire data model that exists as either a Data Context (such as LINQ to SQL) or an Object Context (such as LINQ to Entities).
If you use a Button instead of a Link Button it will work as documented. An image button got as far as the item command but never got to the Object Data Source updating event.
However a link button siting right beside the image button with a command of "Update" just like the image button, did infact proceed to the ODS updating. Form view doesn't seem to support image buttons that fire commands, unless there is some magical setting I am missing.
